If you have already started with the static line method you may want to continue skydiving with AFF
If you have completed your 10 second delays and been clear for 15 second delays or more (BPA category 5 or equivalent) you can convert to AFF starting from level 3. The static line system can be long and very frustrating as you have to wait until you are on the ground to get feedback on your performance. AFF is the most efficient way to learn how to skydive as you have in-air instruction and can improve your performance during the skydive.
Do I have to start with the AFF course all over again?
No, you don't have to do the whole AFF course. The ground school with your AFF instructor will be a conversion course from static line to AFF. Only the new topics will be covered in detail making it far shorter. After ground school if you have already completed your 10 second delays (BPA category 5) you will start with a level 3 jump which is with two instructors (one each side of you). Once passed level 3 you will continue with the following levels until your graduation after 10 consolidation jumps and level 8.
Is the conversion from static line to AFF recognized?
This conversion is recognized by the BPA and the USPA (British and United States Parachute Association). You will find a separate section for the conversions in their manuals. The only condition for the conversion from static line to AFF is the completion of the 10 second delay. Once you have switched to the AFF method there is no recognized conversion back to static line again.
Do I have to pay for the full AFF course?
No, you won't have to pay the full amount if you are starting from level 3. This means a saving of about 300 € (level 1 and 2). Please check in advance with the instructors if you qualify for a conversion.
